Black Widow Solo Film On the Horizon

Marvel fans have been begging for it for years. A stand alone film starring Natasha Romanoff of Red Room Academy… Black Widow. I’m afraid I am a bit biased on the subject, because Black Widow is my favourite avenger, right next to Hawkeye. It’s kind of unfortunate for me, saying the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not tapped into the full potential of either of them, let alone provide a suitable range of merchandise.

As a result of this, every time Scarlett Johansson is in a press conference for anything Marvel related, she is bombarded with questions about the future for everyone’s favourite  Russian assassin/super spy.

I think that there’s room for a standalone movie. The character has a really rich origin story and I’ve been really fortunate to kind of place all these layers on top of one another and kind of build up this character to this point where I think I can now start to peel them away and reveal different sides of her and really focus on—I think I’ve been able to grow with the character, the character’s been able to grow with me.

Johansson said, in regards to if Black Widow could handle a solo film. The origin story really is rich, and there is something about Soviet Russia and secret organizations that interest people. Not to mention the the Red Room Academy’s history was set up in Marvel/ABC’s ‘Agent Carter’.

I’ve spoken to Kevin about it. I mean, of course, of course we’ve had that conversation before, and I think Kevin would also like to see a standalone film. I think I can speak for him and say that. That’s all, really. Right now I think this character is used well in this part of the universe, but I think that Kevin—I mean, we’ve talked about it and we both share similar vision for what could be a standalone series.

“Kevin” being Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios.

It’s true that Black Widow is being used well in the MCU, but we know how Cap and Iron Man came to be, why not Natalia? And with Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman movies just around the corner, there is no excuse not to try, at this point. I’d see the movie 10 times alone.

Tell me how much you hated that...
