Spiderman Casting: Dylan O’Brien Denies Rumors

Though the internet was abuzz with news that the ‘Teen Wolf’ star was to be cast as Spiderman in the 2017 Marvel reboot, O’Brien states that he has not auditioned or been contacted for the role.  Like many of us, he says, “I’ve only heard from, like, [rumors] online.”

This begs the question, “Who will be Spiderman?” , or more correctly, as other fans are asking, “How many more times do I have to watch Uncle Ben die?!”.

Even as many fans are asking for a person of color to portray Spiderman, maybe we should just ditch Peter Parker all together. Maybe we should start from his death, which begins the legacy of Miles Morales’s Spiderman.

Some phenomenal black actors such as Alfie Enoch (of Harry Potter and How to Get Away With Murder Fame) and Donald Glover (who is to voice Morales in the animated series this year) would be fitting for such a role, or if you still want to see Uncle Ben die, Osric Chau (Kevin Tran from Supernatural) would be a fine pick in the eyes of diversity.

What do you think? Should we leave Peter Parker to expand on the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
